Beginning Hal Higdon’s Novice Half Marathon Training Program

I love running outdoors. It was a bit misty because of the fog, but wonderful.

I’m worried about the rainy season, because I don’t know if I can survive running 3+ miles on a treadmill. How do people do it? It’s just so… boring. Plus, my gym has a 30 minute limit on their cardio machines, so I’d probably have to start & stop many times. Boo. Not looking forward to that.

Anyway, I am starting Hal Higdon’s Novice Half Marathon Training Program this week. I was supposed to run 3 miles yesterday, but because I got to the gym too late, I only did 1 on the treaddreadmill before boot camp started. Today I was supposed to run 2 miles (or cross train), but I ran 3. I’m missing 1 mile, but I think I’m okay, it’s only the beginning, am I right?! 😛

Thursday I will need to run another 3 and then Sunday will be my longest run, of 4 miles… I’m excited. I hope the weather stays like this for a little while longer!

It’s Fall & It’s Cold Out

It's Fall & It's Cold Out

I have been a huge baby lately. I should start training, especially since I have never run further than 3 miles and I want to slowly build miles. I NEED to start building up my miles if I’m ever going to run 13.1 miles!

I need to also watch my diet. I was on a great streak until my birthday happened and I slacked off, BIG TIME. Oops. Time to reel it in, to start getting serious. It’s time to figure out why my lower back starts tightening up in the beginning of my runs lately…

And how to run FASTER.
