Half Marathon Training

Processed with VSCOcam with s2 preset

Some friends and I signed up for a 16-week half marathon training program, which will get us ready for my first Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon!

We are almost done with week 1 and I’m feeling ok. I have not run consistently since November 2013, thanks to getting sick back-to-back. I still don’t know what I had, but it might have been the flu followed by a bad cold. The first week of training has been interesting, since it has been raining so much—I’ve never had to run so much in the rain before. I hope I don’t catch a cold! *crossing my fingers & toes*

This time around I’m going to focus only on run training, so I will try not to overbook on exercise. When I was trying out the Hal Higdon plan last fall, I was still doing Boot Camp classes on run days and I started having problems with my right hip flexor and lower back. I hope this time I can stay healthy and pain-free.
